One of the most important things to know when selecting swivel vastors with a central bolt hole is the bolt size. The bolt size depends on the diameter of the bolt hole in the swivel part of the caster wheel. It's essential to know the correct bolt size to ensure that the castors are securely and safely attached. In this blog, we explain how to correctly measure the bolt size of a wheel.
Step 1: Remove the old swivel wheel (if applicable)
If you want to replace a swivel wheel, start by removing the old swivel wheel from the object. This can be as simple as unscrewing the bolt that secures the swivel wheel.
Step 2: Measure the diameter of the bolt hole
For castors with a central hole, measure the diameter of this bolt hole. Use a caliper (most accurate!) or a tape measure to precisely measure this diameter. You're measuring the distance from one side to the other side of the hole.
Step 3: Record the bolt size
Make sure to note down the measured bolt size to avoid accidentally forgetting it.
Step 4: Choose the castor with the right bolt size
Now that you've determined the bolt size, you can look for new castors with the exact same bolt size. In our range, we have sizes like 10.2mm, 12.2mm, and 16.2mm. These correspond to bolts M10, M12, and M16.
Note! Our furniture wheel series has a castor code that starts with the letter M. For example, M6-50. This is not the bolt size; the bolt size is specified under the product page specifications!
